How to read this

  • The height is what the Prefectura gauge reads at each port, in metres, published once a day.
  • A rising river usually brings muddier water and more current; a falling one leaves more beach and concentrates fish in the deep holes. To choose your day, ask your guide.
  • Alert and evacuation levels warn of floods for riverside towns. Being above them does not mean you cannot fish, but confirm access and the boat first.
  • Wind and rain are forecasts and model data for the town; a reference, not a guarantee.
  • On the Río de la Plata and in the Delta the height also moves with the tide and the wind (the sudestada). The daily reading does not show high or low tide: it is a reference, not the peak.

Where it comes from

Heights and levels: gauges of the Argentine Naval Prefecture, published by the National Water Institute (INA (alerta.ina.gob.ar)). Weather: Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0 licence). We read them every day and always show the date of the reading.
